2019 Year in Review

As 2019 comes to a close, we tip our hats to the clients and projects that allowed us to collaborate, explore, and expand our craft. For our final blog of the year, we’re celebrating the personal and professional triumphs that laid the foundation for our next decade.

Projects

This year was marked by a host of dynamic residential projects and clients who challenged us to stretch our imagination.

In Progress

Press

Our growing portfolio of commercial and residential projects caught the attention of local publications, earning us a feature in 5280 Home, a highlight in Dwell, Gather, Be, and a place on the Colorado Homes and Lifestyles Fabulous List for 2019.

Benchmarks

We also grew our team with the addition of Keefe Stanholtzer—a multifaceted designer who adds new ideas and perspectives while allowing us to expand our reach (and our capacity).

Dialogue

Our hope is to demystify the process of building a home so clients feel confident selecting and working with an architect. We put pen to paper (more accurately: fingers to keyboard) and filled our blog with key insights from our combined 50+ years in the industry. We also created a guide to aid residential clients in understanding the process of working with bldg.collective.

Steve Perce

Steve continues to foster the minds and work of young architects as a guest critic for his alma mater: the CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning. He and his wife also had an opportunity to travel to Paris for a short trip this past Fall to recharge the batteries after a busy summer.

Chris Gray

Chris’ year was marked by a very serious court case: He captained his tennis league to district finals. This fall, his 8 year old daughter began a girls in architecture after school program hosted by Bear Creek Elementary. He is eagerly awaiting requests for help with homework.

Jennifer Lombard

It’s official: Jennifer became a certified architect in 2019. She passed her Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) with flying colors. Having worked as a licensed interior designer for 10+ years before opting to return to school, she is now the most versatile designer in our midst. Like Chris, she is invested in the success of young architects, and dedicates time to mentoring high school students in the ACE Mentor Program of America

Keefe Stanholtzer

2019 marked Keefe’s re-introduction to the world of architecture after 10+ years away. In that time, he had a son, started a band, explored photography and graphic design, and used decidedly little technology. This year, he opted to dust off his illustrious portfolio and get reacquainted (and, in some case acquainted) with technologies old and new, while mastering his skills in Japanese culinary arts.

As we head into 2020, we are grateful for our work, clients, friends, families and collaborators. May the next decade be filled with joy, happiness, and beautiful architecture!
