Description:

Following on the success of the previous year, in 2008 we explored how the inherent qualities within materials can be exploited through a methodology of application to create a unique architectural experience. We wanted a material visitors would easily recognize, be low cost, and easy to manipulate and build. The material we chose was 1/8” Masonite and 1/8” Masonite pegboard; materials that are usually seen in garages, basements, and over workbenches. By exploiting the thinness of the material and its ability to bend and warp, we created ventilated panels that visually dematerialize the walls at the booth entrances allowing for greater views into the booth from the hallways. The interior shared walls of the booth use the Masonite pegboard, allowing light from the neighboring booths to filter into the interior of the space.
